Who We Are

Our partners have complementary work skills than cover management of nearly every discipline and industry. Having worked together at General Motors years ago Larry and Mike knew there would be an opportunity to combine their unique skills sets in a business that would be of value to our clients and fulfilling for them. Sustainable Lean Co-Founder, Mike Taubitz, spent a majority of his career working at General Motors and pioneered Design-In Safety within General Motors. This activity developed Task Based Risk Assessment which led to plant operations that were safer and more efficient. Larry Osentoski, our other Co-Founder, has spent his entire career developing leading edge technology for commercial, military and government clients. Larry is best known for pioneering telediagnostics system design in the commercial and military markets. These systems track and record vehicular diagnostic data and communicate the data to the users via various wireless communication protocols.

Mr. Mike Taubitz

Co-Founder Sustainable Lean LLCMike

Mike Taubitz spent over 40 years with General Motors in a variety of engineering and human resource positions. He held every safety position from plant safety supervisor to Global Director of Safety and Ergonomics. Along the way, he learned lean from NUMMI (joint venture of GM and Toyota) and developed a passion for implementing lean and safe in office and business systems. In the late 90s, he learned lean and continuous improvement thinking for office and business systems and used that as a foundation when he developed and led GM’s emerging issues process from 2000 until retirement in 2008.

In this last assignment, Mike spent considerable time in the diverse world of global standards and regulation creating linkages between operations management and sustainability. He is a frequent speaker at professional and industry group meetings and is often referenced in articles, magazines and technical papers. Mr. Taubitz is co-chair of the National Lean & Safe Network and is Secretary to the Board of Directors for the Michigan Lean Consortium. Mr. Taubitz holds a BSME from General Motors Institute and an MA from Central Michigan University.

Mr. Larry Osentoski

Co-Founder Sustainable Lean LLCLarry

Mr. Osentoski brings technical management and leadership tools to the training provided by SustainableLean. After developing technical solutions and patents within the commercial, military and government sectors Mr. Osentoski has come to realize the technology is not the challenge in most every case. The challenge is applying lean thinking in a credible manner where lean blends into the program instead of becoming the program.

Mr. Osentoski was a founding Board Member of the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA). He also served as the Chair of the Department of Defense and Connected Vehicle Proving Center Committees within CVTA. He has served on the DaimlerChrysler Vehicle Diagnostics Management Council. Mr. Osentoski is a regular speaker at systems engineering and telematics industry events around the world including ITS London, Telematics Korea, NDIA Systems Engineering Conference, and Telematics Update. Mr Osentoski holds a BSEE from Michigan Technological University. He is also an active little league baseball coach in the Village of Clarkston, Michigan where he resides with his wife and five children.
